“Ancestral wisdom embraces the most profound level of knowledge and lore available to us. Ancestors are not only the people from whom we are descended, but also the primal parents from whom all humanity derives. In nearly all cultures around the world they are seen as dwelling in the underworld, guarding the knowledge and wisdom of those who have gone before. Every thought, every word, dream and idea is held for us in the realm of the ancestors. Traditional shamans say that to go there is to enter a state of being in which they can access all this stored information, and when they need to find the answer to a profound question or need, it is to this realm they resort.”
“The Green Man Tree Oracle – Ancient wisdom from the spirit of nature” by John Matthews
In September 2008, I traveled to England and France to further explore myths of the ancients and legends of the Knights Templar. The focus in England was primarily an array of little Templar churches scattered throughout the countryside, especially those which had associations with ley lines, five pointed stars, or with certain numbers.
There was much to discover, and I am still processing my observations, photographs, and experiences.
Temple Bruer is a great example of the Templar mystery. It is located in Lincolnshire county, a few hours north of London, and it encompasses the 5.15 number.

Temple Bruer
Some fascinating pieces to the puzzle can be found on the Templar Mechanics website at www.templarmechanics.com. Of the 5.15 marking:
“Originally Templar Mechanics was looking for an explanation as to why an extended pentacle appears to be in the landscape at Temple Bruer, created by church alignments. But has since grown to include other Knights Templar / sacred sites and the discovery of a repeating circular measure- 5.15 miles or approximately 10,000 megalithic yards. The megalithic yard being the controlling measure discovered by Alexander Thom at many ancient sites throughout Europe...
Templar Mechanics would like to know why a six pointed seal of Solomon is created on the ground at the Temple Bruer village, again by connecting converging points of local church alignments…..
Templar Mechanics has also found the Temple Bruer circle diameter/measure of 5.15 miles repeating in the landscape around other Templar sites, including Rosslyn, Willoughton, Maltby, Temple Rockley, Rennes le Chateau, Tara, Iona and the Isle of Mull.”
And there is more, much more.
“Preceptory tower 13th century…Second richest preceptory in England…These templar sites were said to be ‘extra – parochial places’….down to the end of the last century being outside the normal system of local church administrations.
So, Not only does the occultist John Dee become rector at a church involved in the geometry at Leadenham, but so does occultist Sir Francis Dashwood with the pillar he built on Dunston Heath. I wonder if some knowledge gained at Uptown Upon Severn led him to Temple Bruer and the geometric ‘Energy Pentacle’…through which he worked his craft.
This is also near to the site of the Augustinian priory, which marks the alignment which crosses at Green Man wood…and forms one of the main lines of the pentacle’s geometry.
Story goes that in 1308 Edward II sent the Sheriff of Lincoln, John de Cormel to arrest William de la more who was the preceptor of TB and the GRAND PRIOR OF ENGLAND.
On the day of the arrest the grand prior of England is at TB….Now if there was anything he had of value at the time ….where is he likely, in haste to put it?
With all these established links to royalty and power and the positioning of the places of interest where they met, could it be the pentacle was known/ has been known about for a long time? …..and is it still known about today?”
The triggers for me are the number 5.15, the pentacle, the connection to the Templars, the connection to John Dee, and the connection to the Augustinian priory. It’s all code - and a code I am determined to crack.
(Thanks to Dan Green and his wife for taking us to Lincoln Cathedral and Temple Bruer.)

Royston Cave

Royston Cave carvings
Situated at the crossroads of two major ley lines is the existence of a beehive-shaped cave. Royston Cave, forty-two miles north of London, is a man-made cavern with the most peculiar Templar wall carvings I have seen to date. Some dispute the authenticity of the Templar imprint at Royston, while others connect the Augustinian monks to this area.
So much can be said about this highly unusual cave, but the thing that sparked my attention, in addition to its energetic location, and the Templar/Augustinian connection, was the alleged platform in the cave that could have been shaped like the six pointed star.
“The structure was functional, providing a landing for persons entering the cave and also allowed access to the niches in the upper part of the cave but its shape which was probably in the form of the Star of David, suggests that both the platform and the niches had a ritualistic purpose.”
“The Medieval Structure within Royston Cave” by Peter T. Houldcroft
This is a very special chamber, with very special alignments, very telling carvings, and a very potent physical location within the earth. And it is situated on Latitude 52.
Did Royston Cave have anything to do with the Underworld I was in search of? Is the Underworld truly the realm of the ancestors? Was the carving of St. Catherine really a carving of Persephone, Queen of the Underworld?
Was Royston considered an omphalos of mythical proportion?
From www.indigogroup.co.uk:
“The crossroads is, of course, none other than the cosmological omphalos, the conceptual centre point of the world. And the Royston cave is the only known example where all of the traditional features of this important geomantic axis still exist, even in attenuated form. Various cultures and traditions know the use of the omphalos, and the western European tradition was crystallised in the practices of the Etruscans, whose magical methods, taken over wholesale by their Roman conquerors, laid the foundation for the western tradition in the layout of sacred architecture and large-scale geomantic works.
In Etruscan geomancy these roots were represented by the mundus, a shaft cut beneath the crossroads. This mundus was seen to connect the world of the living with the world of the dead. Interestingly, the word mundus could also refer to the vault of the heavens, of which the cavern was a subterranean copy. This is important at Royston, for the bell-shape of the cave certainly reflects the possibly celestial nature of the cavity.
According to the Roman author Varro, the mundus was considered to be the gateway to the gods of the underworld. But although it was necessary to make this mundus, the gods of the underworld were not to be unleashed. So, after digging the shaft, the Etruscan geomants would seal it with a flat stone - echoed at Royston by the millstone that the workmen found in 1742. When this had been sealed, and the central pole or stone erected, then the casting of lots, itself a sacred act, would be undertaken to allot the plots of land for settlers in the new town around the omphalos.
At Royston, then we have the perfect omphalos site…for the millstone in itself was highly symbolic in cosmological terms. The circular stone set in grooves was used in ancient jewish tombs in Palestine as a seal, and in the legend of Christ the stone is rolled away to reveal the body evaporated away from its grave-clothes. The rolling stone, too, was used as a closure in the gates of the holy city of Antananarivo on Madagascar. In ancient northern Europe, the millstones were symbolic of the cosmic system.
At Royston, then, we have a geomantic centre of the greatest importance, unparalleled anywhere…”
Were the Templars aware of this? And if so, what were they doing here in this powerful omphalos site? What were they accessing energetically? Was this another vault into the heavens? And what exactly does that mean? Is this a place to “jump”?
Were they performing occult rituals in Royston Cave? Were they accessing the power of the Underworld? And if so, why? For what benefit? For material treasure? To access hidden information stored deep beneath its layers? Was this cave and its potent earth energies in any way connected to the secrets of regeneration?
The second week of the trip, my friend Jane and I flew from London to Paris and took an amazing journey into the Templar Cathedrals in Paris, Amiens, Rheims, Chartres, and Orleans. We saw extraordinary examples of these resonant temples of light and dark, sound and color.
During the papal procession to Notre Dame de Paris, in order to untangle ourselves from the massive crowd of people, we stumbled into a most extraordinary find – the Church of St. Severin – possibly another Templar church with hidden placement and power.
The stained glass window of the Magdalene preaching in Provence with a curious ship docked in the background caught my attention. In addition, there are some striking pillars in the church – pillars which remind me of the Apprentice Pillar in Rosslyn Chapel.

Perhaps the most bizarre example of Templar heresy in their cathedrals can be found in Amiens, about an hour and a half north of Paris. The alleged head of John the Baptist is encased there and the floors have an M.C. Escher feel to them, but it is the large upside down pentagram in one of its stained glass windows that caught my attention.

Also interesting is this image of Joan of Arc in her cathedral in Orleans. What exactly is being depicted in this beautiful window? Why the wings and the robe? Is this the ascension of Joan?

Joan of Arc in Orleans
From Orleans we drove to the Languedoc region of southern France. I was relieved to get off the road and relax in Alet les Bains, with its pristine waters flowing through the village.
At the end of this property are the ruins of a centuries old abbey, and underneath that is said to be the ruins of a Temple to Diana. Whatever it is about this enigmatic village, it calls out to me.
I had previously stayed at Hotel L’Eveche in October 2006 – right around Halloween. At that time, after parking my rental car one night, I was greeted by a spirit cloaked in rough brown fabric, like the weathered and tattered burlap of a monk’s robe.
I was not prepared for this, and quickly made my way to my room. Once inside my room, I opened my large window onto the courtyard to see if “he” was still there. He was.
I could see the path he walked in the ruins. Even from that distance, he sensed my presence and invited me into the ruins, to observe the secret Templar rituals. Have to admit I was curious, but my focus was in another direction back then. Besides, it felt a little spooky, even to me.
The next morning I walked over to the ruins where the brown-robed spirit roamed about. To my surprise there was evidence of an old doorway in that exact spot. It validated what I saw the night before. I drove up to Rennes le Chateau, pleased and perplexed by my psychic perceptions.

The Alet ruins
Upon returning in September 2008, I fully expected to connect with this spirit again. After all, I had become a Templar since our first encounter, with my affiliation in the local hills of the Rennes le Chateau region. In some strange way, this felt like home to me. I had spent the last few years studying the sacred geometry in the area as well as the mysterious knights.
As the sun was setting, Jane, Isobel and I walked to the edge of the ruins and stopped to sit by a potent spot. I asked the spirit to come again, already feeling his presence lurking around the place. Isobel wasn’t sure what to make of things since she had never experienced this part of my psychic work. Jane has seen it many times, so she was prepared for some kind of contact.
He responded rather quickly and said he came to talk about the underworld. He had messages for each of us, and I conveyed them to Jane and Isobel. Jane heard his name as Brother Stephen.
He suggested I revisit my understanding of the underworld as a devious and dark place, and try to see it more as a necessary passageway into the realms of light, a light so bright, it would take some getting used to, certainly in human form. It seemed as if he was asking me to let go of my fear and false perceptions, so that the underworld could be traversed while living. Somehow there was something important about doing this – in THIS lifetime.

Black and white dragons
Back up in my room, I opened a book I had read years before – “The Templar Revelation” by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince. Lo and behold, there was a chapter called Into the Underworld. I read it again and understood much more than I had eight years ago.
Into the underworld I was apparently going, like it or not!
The authors’ mention of the Jean Cocteau Mural in London’s Notre Dame de France church in this particular chapter made me feel very uneasy, but why?

Why was the mention of this mural disturbing to me and what did it have to do with my message of the underworld? Honestly I was totally confused, so I just went to sleep.
A few days later, I returned to the ruins, having received a telephone call from back home that my father was gravely ill. My friends were up the hill in Rennes le Chateau celebrating the Autumn Equinox, but I needed some time alone, to reflect and tune into the spirit realm.
It was then that I saw my father being carried through the dark tunnel or passageway of the underworld. This time he would not be making any more miraculous recoveries. I was shown his mummified body being carried away by a host of servants, supervised by Anubis, through the dark passageway of the death tunnel, and towards the light. This time - it was his time.
And I was supposed to stay right where I was. After almost four years of taking care of him, I was being told to let go of him, and let him make his passage. He could not do this with me there by his side. That’s why it was happening while I was away.
A few days later, I was still anxious about my father’s condition despite the message I received, and debated flying home. My brother assured me that he was relieved to be there, since he had not spent much time with my dad over the years. I was reminded of my message to stay put and allow my father to make his procession, so I found myself poking around in Serres with a few friends.
So we went inside the tiny church, and a man emerged from nowhere and walked in behind us. We wondered who he was. He identified himself as Jacques from Monaco. Said he was writing a book. Jacques and I started chatting, with the help of Isobel translating. He took us around back of the miniature church to point out a Templar marking. For some reason it triggered the sense of the underworld for me, and I mentioned it. That seemed to startle Jacques.

I explained my new found understanding that the underworld was a necessary joining of the darkness to the light. It was essential to our understanding of the order of things. He said he was afraid of the underworld and asked how I got past my fear of the evil in this realm. “It won’t appear as evil if you don’t fear it,” I replied. “It’s your programming that makes you fear it.”
He had a lot of apprehension in his eyes and his voice, and somehow I wondered if he was holding “the first Essene mirror” up to me. But I maintained my understanding, and repeated there was nothing to fear. This conversation came up, over and over, as we walked up the road to the location of the former Poussin tomb. “No,” I repeated, “nothing to fear.”
When I returned home, we buried my dad with full military honors and celebrated his eighty-five years of living a long, full life. Although in my heart I will forever miss him, it was his time to leave his physical body behind. It had simply worn out, and it was his time to go.
Think my dad faced a lot of dangers and frightening situations as a World War II Veteran, yet he always seemed fearless about his twenty years of service in the Air Force, many of them in harm’s way. He made it through many combat situations without injuries or physical wounds.
At the end of his life, what was it was like for him to face death and cross over? Did he really encounter Anubis or was that just the frequency of the passageway? Did any fear creep into his grounded demeanor? What was it was like for him descend into the darkness, and journey through the underworld…and why was his life mirroring my message from the spirit realm – emanating from the ruins in Alet les Bains – to face the underworld fearlessly? Was I in some strange way connected to his journey of transition?
There were and still are so many questions, and so many connections to be made…
